Sodium Acetate Trihydrate 58-60% is white crystalline powder or block, odourless, slightly bitter. It has strong moisture absorption and highly dissolves in water. Sodium Acetate Trihydrate 58-60% is a hydrated, water-containing, salt compound. The salt tends to combine with water from the air, leading to formation of the trihydrate.
Sodium acetate trihydrate comprises three distinct chemical components–sodium, acetate and water–only one of which is actually chemically reactive.
Sodium and water don’t involve chemical reactions in which sodium acetate trihydrate participates, but the acetate portion of the molecule is a weak base and is used to make buffer solutions. Sodium Acetate Trihydrate 58-60% is manufactured by method which comprises the following steps: firstly, taking sodium acetate solution which is a by-product generated in the production process of trimellitic anhydride, pouring into a material mixing kettle, stirring, and neutralizing until the pH value is 6-9. Then secondly, evaporating and concentrating; thirdly, putting the concentrated sodium acetate solution in a crystallization kettle, cooling to 57 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius. Adding sodium acetate trihydrate crystals accounting for 0.05-0.5% by mass of the solution in the kettle to provoke the crystallization, and stirring for more than 12 hours. Then, centrifugally separate to obtain the solid phase which is the sodium acetate trihydrate.
