Calcium Stearate Description
Calcium Stearate is the calcium salt of stearic acid and belongs to the group of compounds commonly known as metallic stearates or metal soaps. It is generally available as a fine white or off-white powder and is valued for its lubricating, water-repellent, release, stabilising and processing-support properties.
Unlike sodium and potassium soaps, Calcium Stearate is practically insoluble in water. This low water solubility makes it useful in industrial formulations where moisture resistance, controlled lubrication, anti-sticking or surface protection is required.
Calcium Stearate is widely used as an internal and external lubricant in plastics and polymer processing. It helps reduce friction between polymer particles, processing equipment and mould surfaces. Depending on the formulation, it can support smoother processing, improved material flow, easier mould release and better surface finish.
In PVC processing, Calcium Stearate is commonly used as a lubricant, acid acceptor and co-stabiliser. It may be used independently or as part of calcium-zinc stabiliser systems, depending on the required formulation and regulatory standard.
The rubber industry uses Calcium Stearate as a processing aid, release agent and anti-sticking material. In paints, coatings and printing-related formulations, it can support matting, sanding, water repellency, pigment dispersion and improved surface characteristics.
Calcium Stearate is also used in cementitious products, concrete blocks and construction formulations where water-repellent properties and efflorescence control are required. In paper and paperboard manufacturing, it can function as a coating lubricant and help improve coating performance, gloss and processing behaviour.
Application-specific grades may also be used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, personal-care and food-related formulations where the selected material complies with the relevant quality, purity and regulatory requirements. Buyers must specify the intended application and required standard before ordering.
Vinipul Inorganics Pvt. Ltd. supplies Calcium Stearate to processors, formulators, distributors, institutional buyers and industrial users. Product selection can be aligned with the buyer’s required particle size, calcium content, moisture level, free fatty matter, bulk density, packaging and end-use application.
We support domestic and export requirements with quality documentation, commercial packaging and supply coordination according to the customer’s purchase quantity and delivery location.
